Russel Baze and Jorge Ricardo set to cross swords

The world's two winningest jockeys, Jorge Ricardo and Russell Baze, will meet competitively for the first time at Ascot on Aug. 9 in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup. The Brazilian Ricardo, 46, and the American Baze, 49, with an amazing 20,000+ victories between them, have accepted invitations to ride in the international jockey competition that day at the famed English racecourse, where they will be teammates on the three-member Rest of the World Team that will compete in six races against teams from Britain, Ireland, and Europe. The third man on the side is expected to be Yutaka Take, the winningest rider in Japan Racing Association history. Baze broke Laffit Pincay's North American record of 9,530 winners in December 2006. up to and including Thursday 14th Feb. Ricardo led Baze by a count of 10,055 victories to 10,016.
