Beef Or Salmon to retire

Michael Hourigan has confirmed that Beef Or Salmon will not run in the John Smith's Grand National and that retirement is on the cards for the 10-time Grade One winner.

Hourigan, and owners Joe Craig and Dan McLarnan, have decided their pride and joy will not carry top-weight at Aintree but the 12-year-old may still run in the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse on March 24.
"Beef is not going to run in the English National and as things stand he'll be entered for the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday and he's a possible to take his chance there," said Hourigan.
"He's 12 now and like the rest of us he's not getting any younger but he's still in very good order.
"Like every horse, he cannot go on forever and we have talked about retiring him, but we'll see how things pan out over the coming months before we make any decisions,"
